Local Man Undergoes First Robotic-Assisted Hip Replacement Surgery in Saratoga Area

On May 31, board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dionisio Ortiz of The Bone & Joint Center performed the first robotic-assisted direct anterior hip replacement in the Saratoga area.

Suffering from eight years of chronic pain in his right hip, Charles C., 73, hit a point where he needed to replace his hip. Dr. Ortiz offered him the advanced, robotic-assisted hip replacement procedure at Saratoga Hospital.

“Dr. Ortiz knows exactly what he’s doing—he’s an awesome man,” Charles said. “I have no complaints. I think he did an excellent job.”

Three weeks postoperation, Charles experiences mobility with his new hip and enjoys his life without the intense chronic pain. As a retired army veteran, Charles spends his time with his wife and is continuing to recover.
