“I was having trouble with my knee and had seen several orthopedics as well as a physical therapist, and while the physical therapy provided some relief, my condition persisted. This knee problem had been nagging me for close to a year when, upon the recommendation of a friend at work, I made an appointment to see Dr. Shatynski.
Dr. Shatynski was incredible! He took the time to ask about my story--in fact, he took more time in a single appointment than all the other surgical doctors combined--and he listened to my history before giving me a physical exam. Dr. Shatynski assessed my knee and after asking me to perform a few exercises, he knew exactly what the problem was. In the end, Dr. Shatynski successfully diagnosed the problem. When I left his office, he provided me a scholarly study about my condition; he also gave me a set of specific exercises (to my surprise, exercises I did not do during my time at physical therapy) that were used in this study to successfully fix my specific condition. It's been 6 months now and I am running again! Running! My knee used to bother me while walking or taking stairs and I'm in the process of training for a half marathon.
In my experience with medical professionals, I have to say that my time with Dr. Shatynski was unlike any other. It is abundantly clear that Dr. Shatynski cares for his patients, but he has a kindness that is unique--even to those in the medical profession. Sure, I was just another patient in a long line of patients to be seen on that particular day, but Dr. Shatynski took the time to make me feel like a human being and not just another number.
Frankly, when I came to the office at the Bone and Joint Center I was discouraged; I had been dealing with this pain in my knee for nearly a year, other orthopedics could not diagnose my condition, the nagging pain was not relieved with cortisone shots, nothing was visible on an MRI, and it was not fixed with several months of PT, but I left Dr. Shatynski's office with confidence. Dr. Shatynski was able to diagnose the problem and give me a path to fix it and I am grateful for his care and kindness. You all are lucky to have a physician like Dr. Satynski.”
