My Comeback Story: Alan S.

Six months ago every step I took was agony

Six months ago every step I took was agony. I went to the Catskill office of the Albany Bone and Joint Center where an
X-Ray showed that my left hip was bone on bone.

Three weeks later I went to their Malta office at 6 AM in the morning for outpatient hip replacement surgery. At 4 PM I was back home. I could immediately climb stairs and walked without a cane within a month.

For the first time in perhaps a decade I wasn’t in excruciating pain. I should have done the procedure years ago.

Dr. Alexander Harbin was the surgeon. He does a relatively new form of hip replacement surgery called anterior surgery. The older procedure is called posterior surgery and recovery is longer and more difficult. Get anterior if you can. I am 78 years old. I am out of pain now and can walk normally. Dr. Harbin literally gave me my life back.

I would not go anywhere else to have such surgery performed. The Bone and Joint Center seems to be well run with excellent facilities, and Dr. Harbin is the best.
Thank you.
