My Comeback Story: Holly H.

Back on the slopes

My husband and I took up skiing later in life, and it's been wonderful to fully enjoy the Northeast winter season. But after badly breaking my ankle this summer, I wondered if I'd ever be able to downhill ski again. Dr. DiPreta's surgery went very well -- yet with three bone fractures, a metal plate, multiple screws, and months in a cast, skiing seemed iffy at best. With excellent advice from Nurse Practitioner Jess Amyot, and a strong physical therapy routine, I worked hard to get strength and flexibility back. Five months after the surgery, I was amazed that downhill skiing was a breeze (it certainly helps that a ski boot is oddly similar to an ankle cast) and we are back on the slopes enjoying the beauty of winter!
