My Comeback Story: Julie R.

Back in the Saddle

Up until my early 50s, I was pretty active- running, hiking, and training in dressage. When my knees started to deteriorate, they got quite bad very quickly. I tried everything, but the pain got so bad, I reached the point where it was very difficult to walk. I wasn't able to do much of anything, and I was so unhappy. I continued dressage training, with my horse, but it was a major struggle as I has to keep compensating to protect my knees. This totally compromed my position and made me less effective as a rider. When I finally decided I had no other options if I wanted any quality of life, I saw Dr. O'Leary ay Bone & Joint. He immediately put me at ease and I felt confident going into the surgery. I had my right knee replaced in December of 2023 and my left in May of 2024. To say
Dr. O'Leary gave me my life back is the understatement of the year. I had forgotten what it was like to live without pain- it's great! I am active again, exercising, hiking with my husband and dog, and even started jogging a little! The best part of all- I am back in the saddle with my beloved horse, and we have made so much progress since my surgeries, now that I can use my body correctly. I will always be grateful to Dr. O'Leary for all he has done for me!
